Endings and Christmas Events (T)

Yesterday was Eddie's last day at "Great Beginnings" his nursery after 6 months. Next year he's a good local state primary. He knows that he has finished at Great Beginnings but still talks about how he has 2 clothes pegs at "his school", the state school he refers to as "gracie's school", for one of his friends who already goes there. Here he is with his beloved nursery teacher on his second last day, on his final day there was a secular christmas concert - jingle bells is his favourite, and he has the lyrics down pat, correcting me whenever I stumble over the one-horse open sleighs and so on. (So like his mum, rather than his dad when it comes to lyrics).

Eddie also has an almost distinguishable part in the Church's cecil b demille nativity play tomorrow, as one of a moderate number of shepherds. In the dress rehearsal he has this blase demenour as though he isnt really following what is going on, and as if he doesnt really care, but he's actually quite on the ball.

I hope we get to see some photos of Eddie the Shepherd!
I will send him a copy of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever some time soon; he'll soon be of an age to appreciate it :)

Uncle Victor says:
Look at Eddie! He is gorgeous! He looks really humble.

We love you Eddie!

(Rachel says: Anita, doesn't a tea towel and dressing gown always do for a shepherd?!)

Remember our clothes pegs at Brunswick Infants' School Tom?

I'd love to see Eddie the nonchalant shepherd! I remember Sam being an eager wise man at Mrs Higgs' Kindy! And me being Mary at Brunswick Infants... And Tom being an excellent, evil Haman... Isn't it weird that this, for our children, is their childhood, against which all things are measured and compared?

I dont hold my childhood as closely as you (and so no i dont remember brunswick clothspegs), but yes it is frightening that "this is it" for our little ones. Ours are really growing up at the moment.

Eddie sticking "Thomas" stickers on the wall behind me at the moment. "Mum's gonna love this" he says.
(This isnt ironic, we've given up on our walls, so she will).

Eddie looks just a bit uncertain about moving on to Gracie's school, without the pegs. I learnt too late, Anita, that the best response to demands for kids' costumes is "I'm sorry, I don't sew".
