Others will no doubt blog better and longer about it, but the short version is that today we had the biggest snowfall in London for 18 years! Really thick on the ground, see sam and beccas blog for some more pics. This picture is of our church, en route to school (which as it happened, was shut due to the weather).

yes, eddie's school was shut. he and i went to the nearest caf to thaw out with hot chocolate, coffee (for me) and scrambled eggs on toast. then we slip slided back home....eddie walking through the thickest snow bits....this morn school was opened again, so he insisted on speeding there on his bike!! he did well on the ice and only fell twice...again, he just had to find the most treacherous bits to navigate through...but we made it in one piece
Is that 18 years thing confirmed then? (Asks she who hardly watches tv/ the news!). I was saying yesterday that the last time I remember snow this deep in Clapham/ London was the week of my 21st.

Wonderful to see Eddie feeding the birds. When he was little, when Seb was just new, we (E and I) used to watch the funny lady feeding birds in Regents Park. Our birds here in Oz have needed water lately, as so very hot. Youir Church looks like a Xmas card. Isn't it a beautiful building? The snow seems to set it off. Is it a Wren? That hot choc, coffee etc instead of school sounds lovely. Much betterthan school. Is he finding school OK?
actually, I dont know where I got the 18 years from, but it sounds as if you can anecdotally verify it. I cannot remember a snowier day in the 10 yrs we've been in London
The church is a guy called Robert Smirke. The church that megan thought it was (all souls langham place) is by John Nash. I got all this info from google and wikipedia. Wikipedia annoys me endlessly, but it tends to be reliable on key facts, though totally irritating on everything else.

We heard the 18 year thing on Oz news too.I think I meant Nash when I said Wren, because Marylebone is so much Nash, isn't it.
