brilliant!
we enjoyed a lot of nice haggis last weekend in edinburgh. I'd never had any before then.
I have a tin of haggis on the fridge from my 30th. Its a present that just keeps on being given...
What is it?
ditto to Jenny et al.
Well according to Wikipedia, Haggis itself is the heart, liver and lungs of a sheep with a few spices and oatmeal all boiled in the animal's stomach. Little of which immediately lends itself to a vegetarian alternative, and as we've thrown out the can I guess we'll never know. But you can probably see why we never tried it.
I served some of my vegie gaggis to lunch visitors today AND THEY ATE IT. I only just got it past customs. Haggis must be tinned, but they realized just in time that mine was vegetarian. I loved the true haggis in Edinburgh, but that was before I read that Wikipedia thing saying what's in it.
I had haggis in scotland, in the rain, on the magical, mysterious west coast, in a little pub...
"I want some haggis", i said
"aye" replied the barman, serving me up a delicious platter...
