It's a boy!!!

Born: 11th July 2008, 2PM (At home)
Weight: 3.6 KG

So, we have a new son! Sebastian was very affectionate, and the car you can see at his shoulder was a gift from Sebastian. Eddie said "he wants some milk".

Mother and child both well.

Shenanigans (T)

As sweet as they may look here, left to their own devices, there is only one word and it is Shenanigans. I don't think anything better applies to the sort of aimless mischief that the two boys will get up to, without supervision. Eddie wandered out of his room at 10pm a couple of nights ago, complaining of a sore foot. Anita went in, and the scene that presented itself was a sort of cheerful chaos. The light was on, Sebastian sitting calmly, somehow marooned in his cot, amidst books, toys, various soft furnishings including rugs, all of which Eddie had somehow managed to lift into the cot. We chastised them gently, though it was hard to feel anything other than amused.

Tom Jones International (T)

In Kansas City, they laugh at their neighbours in South Carolina, for taking such pride in having "International" in the title of their airport. They got it courtesy of an irregular flight to Germany, put on by the airlines to service BMW management flying from headquarters to their US manufacturing plant.
Now, Cardiff city airport is also International due to the odd flight to Europe. Apparently to glam it up a bit, the Welsh are thinking of renaming it "Tom Jones International", which of course would get my vote.

So, onto my real point, my newly found fame in a small section of central London. It's because I share a name with the singer that I was approached to appear in a fairly local advertising campaign in Victoria, near Buckingham Palace. (This is all pretty weird, so bear with me).

The theme is 'Tom Jones shops at Cardinal Place', 'Julia Roberts shops at Cardinal Place', etc. Except that 'Tom Jones' is just me, and 'Julia Roberts' is a shop assistant from Croydon. That sort of thing. So they have made posters in the local Tube stations, and also these bizarre little videos (see above).

I was impressed with the integrity of the advertising agency, bothering to use people who actually shared the name with the star: but as it turns out they had no choice if they want to avoid being sued by the more famous owner of the name.

Anyhow, you can see the campaign online...if you can be bothered, you need to mess about a bit to find my profile on this website.

Regent's Park (T)

Since Kathryn went to America, we have a new Nanny called Gemma. Yesterday, jonathan, anita and myself went to see 'Twelfth Night' a matinee performance in the (surprisingly hot) English sun in Regent's park.

Meanwhile, also in Regent's park, Gemma and her boyfriend took the boys to the playground, and took some nice photos of the boys including these.

Education (T)

The other day in the lounge room, Eddie was whirling his fishing rod around saying it was "like a windmill". I asked him where he learned about windmills, and he paused, grinned, and said "from TV". This is becoming his standard answer, though we're hoping that his school experience will also add to his pool of knowledge. I picked him up after school Thursday, and he was sitting on the steps with the other 20 or so children, cheerfully manhandling the boy next to him, who seemed also to take it in good part. Eddie saw me, ran up, and said "School's great. I love it".

A few months ago, I recieved a letter which began:

"Dear Mr T Jones
This may be the strangest letter you have ever recieved, and we hope you accept it in the good-natured way it is intended. We just wanted to know if your name is Tom Jones?....."

I replied by email to say "Yes it is, but I'm no Welsh Baritone..."

What's it all about????....watch this space...

Nursery School (T)

Suddenly, Eddie is at school. We got a place at a local montessori school for the remainder of this term (finishes end of July). Just for 2 hours after lunch each day. Two days in, and he's doing fine. A little vague about the days activities, he confirmed today "no singing (they don't sing there)", and "no games (there are too many tables)". They did however 'wash up' and yesterday did some painting.

When he first went last week, with Anita, just to check out the school, while the class was on, Eddie joined in on the painting. He told me later "the friends gave me an apron to keep my t-shirt clean".
